Oak Ridge

Virginia Lee (Johnson) Fraser, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

She was born in East Chicago, Indiana on December 1, 1939 to Theodore Roosevelt Johnson and Mary Julia (Bercellie) Johnson and was of the Roman Catholic Faith and a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, TN.

She obtained her Associates of Arts degree from Roane State Community College, and was the office manager for a couple real estate appraisal services in the Oak Ridge area for twenty years. Virginia had many interests including gardening and knitting, but was also a voracious reader. She supported our deployed military through the Socks for Soldiers program, knitting socks for several years. She believed in following the teachings of her faith, and emulating the example of Christ by her behavior and good works whenever and wherever possible. She was active in the Women of Courage Zoom Bible Study, Grief Support Group, and Living Rosary Group. She epitomized faith, hope, and love throughout her life. She never met a stranger, always had a friend, and was beloved by all. Home life focused on love of God, love of family, and love of her community.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Raymond; her parents Theodore and Mary; and her brother John Johnson. She is survived, and lovingly missed, by her 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will begin at 09:00 am on Friday, April 28, 2023 followed by a funeral mass and interment officiated by Father Pontian Kiyimba, A.J., at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 327 Vermont Ave, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
