Marilyn Durbin

September 8, 1949 — June 13, 2021

The Lord Jesus Christ welcomed Missy into his Loving Arms on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was 71 years old.
Marilyn Jean Durbin was born in North Rose, NY. Immediately after graduating high school, Missy went into the U.S. Army. She served her country for ten years, three of those years as a court reporter in Germany.
Marilyn Jean Durbin lived in Oak Ridge for 15 years, coming from Tampa, Fl, where she met her loving husband and best-friend. They remained attached at the hip. She was Christian by faith attending Heritage Fellowship Church in Oak Ridge and later Big Emory Baptist Church in Harriman, TN.
Missy loved crafts, cooking, crocheting, reading, and doing things for people just to show the Love and Care of Jesus Christ. "She had the biggest serving heart, ministering to folks in the Jackson Square apartments"; even so far as liberating people from jail so she can win their heart and soul for Christ by showing them Jesus' love while witnessing to them. "She was always for the down and outer." She loved making big holiday meals for everyone. She was blessed by God with the "Greatest servants hearts of anybody!"
Marilyn Jean Durbin is preceded in death by her father, William Ward Tompkins, her mother, Jean Tompkins Walker, and her brother, Richard Allen Tompkins.
She is survived by her husband Craig Durbin, her sister Diane Devogelaere of Canadaigua, NY, and brother Charles William (Linda)Tompkins of North Rose, NY and sister-in-law Deborah Tompkins of Reidsville, NC plus nieces and nephews.
In leu of flowers or gifts, the family wishes for donations to be made in memoriam of Missy's honor to the Disabled American Veteran chapter of your choice.
