Rose Douglas

October 28, 1956 — August 13, 2020

On August 13, 2020 a beautiful soul left this world as we know it. Rose Marie Douglas, age 63, was born in Cook County, Chicago, IL on October 28, 1956 to Antonio "Tony" Vincent Marquez and (preceded in death by) Helen Marquez Skowronek nee Santamaria. She was very aptly named. Something about our Rose can be found in every definition of every color rose that we know of. She was born in October and carried her birthstone very well. Opal is described as precious. Rose is the true definition of strength and endurance. She worked at Jewelry Television in Knoxville TN for about 20 years and even though, as she progressed in age, her chronic illness caused her so much pain and grief, she was still employed at the time of her death.
She married Larry Wayne Douglas on September 27, 1973 and they enjoyed all of the last 47 years together. They took care of each other s often and as long as necessary, even when they needed help themselves. Absolute true love.
Rose and Larry have 3 children - Mary (Nihal) Zaki of Lutrell TN, Elizabeth (Lewis) McCrary of Sweetwater TN, and Mark Douglas (Martha Hastings) of Oak Ridge TN. Her children do not stop there. She was a second mom to anyone she felt had a need for one. She leaves behind very special family members LeRoy (preceded in death by Margie) Lowe, their children Junior, David, Becky (Jesse), Joe (Stephanie), Cookie (Craig), Her brothers and sisters are Joe Marquez, Matthew (Stephanie) Marquez, Kathy (Ken) Purcell, Ann Cox, Danny Skowronek, Nicole Marquez, and Michael Marquez.
She was preceded in death by her Brother Paul Marquez, Sister in Law Cathy Marquez (married to Joe), Step Mother Diane Marquez, Son In Law Eddie Hill, Granddaughter in Law Candace Heath, and special family member Rudie Buchanan.
Grandchildren are Kaitlyn Rose (Ariel), Michael, Jonathyn (Rita), Aida, Samantha, Coby (Natalie), Jordan, Heaven, Lacey Marie (Charles), Autumn, Bailey, Anthony & Nichole, McKenzie Rose, Johnathon, Mark Jr, Anthony, & Nikki.
Great grandchildren are Dakota, Lillie, Mason, Lux, & Matthew (preceded in death by his twin Andrew). She loved her children with all of her heart, but the grand and great grandkids take the stage.
Rose was very crafty with anything she set her mind to and worked for. Among her favorite things was crocheting - with or without plastic canvas, creating accessories with beads, [including spiral tiered light fixtures] diamond painting, bowling, sharp shooting, painting, drawing, and there were many more. She loved roses, Italian food, listening to music and playing games on her iPad.
She hid so much pain but always had a smile about something. No one left her feeling her like something was missing from their conversation. She was so loving and caring and kind a and endlessly giving. She enjoyed giving joy and happiness to others even if it meant she had to sacrifice her own. Please join our family as we celebrate the spirit that is her life. We would love for you to share your memories of this beautiful soul that we call wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, confidant, and above all else, we know that she is a child of God and we cherish her love that she gave to each of us so unselfishly. Memorial services will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Oak Ridge on Thursday August 20, 2020 to allow for spaced intervals when visiting, we will be receiving friends from 4 pm to 7 pm, with a service from 7 pm to 8pm.
