Ronald Oliver Hagans, 80, of Ocala, Florida passed away May 18, 2018 at The Villages Regional Hospital, The Villages, Florida. He was the husband of Betty Hagans for 53 years.
Ronald was born on April 26, 1938 in Sebring, Florida a son of the late Barnard and Bertha (Butler) Hagans. He received his Master in Business Administration from New-York University and had a successful career at Lockheed Martin in Oak Ridge, TN. He met the love of his life Betty (Rucker) Hagans during their studies as undergraduates at Lincoln-Memorial University, Harrogate, TN. The Hagans were active foster care parents within the East Tennessee Community for over 25 years and fostered over 250 kids during this time. Ronald was proud of his service as an elected school board member of the Anderson County School System and enjoyed being an advocate for the children within East Tennessee. The Hagans were active members of First Baptist Church in Clinton, TN before they moved to Florida to be closer to family in 2014.
Ronald is preceded in death by his daughter Sondra Leigh Hagans and survived by his wife, Betty and sons, Michael Hagans of Hernando, FL, Jonathan Hagans of Belleview, FL, Christopher Hagans of Powell, TN, Timothy Hagans of Daytona Beach, FL, and Cameron Hagans of Orlando, FL and daughter, Michelle Hagans of Belleview, FL. He had seven grandchildren as follows: Leica Larsen, Keelin Morris, Maddox Ellis, Cooper Ellis, TJ Ellis, Samuel Ellis, and Silas Hagans. Ronald had one great grandchild: Luna Baldwin.
Ronald is also preceded in death by his sister, Sondra Hagans, and survived by his brother, B T Hagans of Lake Wales, FL and his sister Jill Roberts of Wauchula, FL. Ronald had many nieces and nephews as follows: Brian Hagans, Rick Hagans, Eddie Hagans, Samantha Hagans, Brian Hagans, Savannah Hagans, Andrew Hagans, Amy Rigney, Emily Chastain, and Jason Roberts.
The family will receive friends at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, FL 34420 on Wednesday, May 24, 2018 from 4:00PM - 5:00PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Oak Ridge, TN at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Condolences may be left at Hiers-Baxley.com.
