Roger Clarence Thompson, 71, of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away unexpectedly at Methodist Medical Center on November 28, 2025. Born and raised in Oak Ridge, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ometa Thompson. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Thompson; his children, Julie Thompson and John Hale; and his grandchildren, K. Candler Towe and Jacob Hale. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Woods, and his sister-in-law, Susan Thompson, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Roger Thompson; his brother, Bill Thompson; and his brother-in-law, Joe Woods.

Roger was an electrician who spent his career working for Oak Ridge National Laboratory until he medically retired in the early 2000s. He was a good man who loved cars and bow hunting, and he was known for his unwavering faith and sense of humor. He will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home, 1017 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
