Rebecca (Becky) Douglas Mrochek age 55, is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Becky was born to Mildred Juanita and James Arthur Douglas on May 18, 1962 in Birmingham, Alabama. She grew up in Kankakee, Illinois. She left this life to become an angel on March 16, 2018 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. Becky is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Patty Howard and Ginger Alexander, Aunt Gerry McCloud, Mother-in-law Shirley Mrochek, and special niece Jessie McCarthy. Becky is survived by her devoted husband Patrick Mrochek, son Randy Johnson, and grandchildren Liam and Jude Johnson and Katelyn Woody. Becky is survived by three sisters Tomme Kenworthy (Barry), Dee Dee McCarthy, and Cathy Douglas (Brian), many nieces and nephews, and a large family of in-laws.
Becky learned cake baking and decorating at the Oak Ridge Federal Bake Shop in downtown Oak Ridge when she was just a teenager. She worked at the bakery until it closed. It was a life-long love, to bake and decorate cakes for her family and friends' special occasions.
Becky had many interests, most prominently a love of family and friends. She never knew a stranger, and everyone who met her felt her kindness and generosity. Her many jobs through the years had one central theme, to serve, provide for, and help others. She worked at Shoney's in Oak Ridge for 25+ years.
Becky enjoyed crocheting. Her favorite collections included frogs and angels. Becky had a soft spot for animals, but dogs were her favorite, and many through the years counted themselves lucky to be her pet! Becky loved to play bingo at the Senior Center in Oak Ridge with her many friends. Becky is survived by several close friends, including Donna Gardner, Linda Birdsell, Cindy Singleton, Janet Carroll, Sue Duncan, Janice Collins, and many more too numerous to name.
The family wishes to thank Methodist Medical Center nurses of the ICU and Drs. Long and Mascioli for their comfort and care of Becky during her last days. Visitation will be 1 - 3 p.m. followed by a celebration of Becky's life at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 at Martin Funeral Home in Oak Ridge.
