Nellie Ruth Pratt

Nellie Ruth Pratt, age 78, of Heiskell, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at NHC Healthcare in Oak Ridge after a courageous seven-year battle with dementia.

Nellie was born in October 1938 in Andersonville, Tennessee, to the late George and Della Atkins Cox. She dedicated much of her life as a homemaker and also worked cleaning homes. More than any occupation, she was known for her servant's heart. Nellie lovingly cared for others throughout her life, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life, and she found great joy in music, dancing, and spending time with those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bart Pratt; her daughters, Kimberly Lynn Pratt and Shelly Ruth Lowe; her grandson, Christopher Dean Davis; her parents, George and Della Atkins Cox; her brothers, Rufus Cox, Bernard Griffith, James Griffith, and Harold Cox; and her sisters, Helen Beal, Katherine Stalhood, and Betty Jean Cox.

Those left to cherish her memory include her granddaughter, Shasta Phillips and husband, Ray Phillips, and their children, Brinleigh and Easton Gilliam; her grandson, John Edward Pratt; her granddaughter, Stanja Chance Lowe, and her children Robert, Kleigh, Christopher, Ryder, Kyleigh, Gabriella, Jameson, and Jaxon; her great-grandson, Dylan Davis; her sisters, Gertie Gillilan and Georgia Cox; her close niece, Linda Ruth Davis Duke; other nieces, Connie Rhome, Mary Sue Tabino, Kathy Elkins Turpin, Sherri Ottinger, Brenda Hambert, and Judy Corley; as well as many other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will remember her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith.

Nellie's legacy is one of compassion, selfless service, and love. Her warm smile, caring heart, and devotion to the Lord touched the lives of many. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior.

The family will hold a private burial. There will be no public visitation or receiving of friends.
