Nancy Baird Showalter Carrol, 89, of Oak Ridge passed away Friday March 8, 2013 at National Health Care of Oak Ridge.
Nancy was born January 30, 1925 in LaFollette, Tennessee to the late Andrew and Alice McCullah Baird. A member of Heritage Fellowship Church of God Nancy was homemaker and very loving, nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a competitive speed walker was the Tennessee Senior State Champion in 1986 and a member of a hiking club from 1984 to 2004. She loved sewing, gardening, and her animals.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands Michael C. Showalter Sr. June 1978, Elliott D. Carroll in August 1994, and twelve siblings. She is survived by her daughter Alice White and her husband Terry of Knoxville, son Michael C. Showalter and his wife Gina of Oak Ridge, grandchildren; Eurichea Showalter, Mikey Showalter, Christy M. Lewis, Jerry M. Lewis, Jonathan T. Lewis, great grandchildren; Roma Ball, Victor and Mario Showalter, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday March 13, 2013 1:00pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with Pastor Paul Metler officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 12, 2013 6:00 to 7:00pm at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
