Myrtle Wells

July 18, 1942 — April 7, 2020

Myrtle Lorene (Lawson) Wells age 77, a longtime resident of Marlow , TN and recently of Claxton, TN passed away on Tuesday April 7, 2020 of natural causes. She was born in Pruden, TN on July 18, 1942 to Albert and Bessie(Johnson) Lawson. She was a 1960 Honors graduate of Pruden High School. She was a faithful member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church in Marlow Tn. She served as a teachers aide and secretary at Marlow Elementary School in the 70's. She retired from Methodist Medical Center in 2013. She was an avid Vols Fan.
Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Eugene Elbert Wells. Her parents Albert and Bessie (Johnson) Lawson, grandparents Willie and Myrtle Johnson, Bill and Mary Lawson, sister Phyllis Lawson and Brother Kenneth Lawson.
Survived by her son James Wells and wife Cindy, daughters Rebecca (Wells) Russell and husband Steve, Doris (Stooksbury) Smith and husband Terry, honorary son David Elkins (Michelle).
8 grandchildren, Heather Smith Wagner (Craig), Ashley Smith Martin (Austin), Emily Smith (AJ Segura), David Wells (Brittny), Jenny Wells, Bruce Duncan (Misty), Matthew Duncan (Jessy) and Sasha Russell.
14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Sister Helen Lawson Behner (Dennis), brothers Wendell Lawson (Sue), Wayne Lawson (Betty) and Leon Lawson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am April 10, 2020 at Poplar Creek Cemetery Clinton, TN. With the Reverend Mark Acres officiating.
Pallbearers: grandsons David Wells, Bruce Duncan, Matthew Duncan and Bernie Mullen.
A memorial service will be held at Poplar Creek Baptist Church in Marlow, TN at a date to be determined.
