Mildred Wallace

January 26, 1930 — January 27, 2021

Mildred kasten Wallace went into the Heavenly arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on January 27, 2021. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Oak Ridge and retired in 1990 from the Y-12 plant as a Computer Analyst after working there for over 33 years
During her retirement years, Mildred served as the Financial Secretary and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at her church. She also participated in many of the groups at the church and served as a member of many of the boards.
She was married to Homer Lee Wallace on April 09 1978. He died June 10, 1985.
Mildred also enjoyed attending ORICL classes and participated in some of the day trips they sponsored.
Mildred also enjoyed traveling and had been to Europe twice and and visited many of the states, Canada and Mexico.
Mildred was born January 26, 1930 to Arthur C.J. Kasten and Hedwig (Hattie) L. Kruger Kasten of Jackson, Missouri, both nos deceased. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1947. Mildred attended Southeast Missouri State College, now University, at Cape Girardeau, Missouri and graduated with a BS in Education with majors in Business Education and Mathematics. Prior to moving to Oak Ridge in 1957 to work for Union Carbide at the Y-12 plant, she had taught high school classes for five years in the states of Missouri and Illinois.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by a stepson: Kenneth L. Wallace and his wife Patti of Arizona, a step-grandaughter, Tracy Salazer and her husband Anthony of Missouri and three step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joseph and Wally Salazar of Missouri.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews including Kim Kasten (RaNaye Dreier) od Oak Ridge and Jennifer Kasten of Florida, Karen Carter (Ron) of Texas, Rita Leimer (Gene) of Jackson, MO Jane Wille (Larry) of Whitewater, Mo, Brenda Brege of Detroit, MI, Sandra Flores (Jun) of CA and Brad Kasten (Natalie) of ST. Louis, MO,also sixteen great nieces and nephews and fourteen great-great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her three brothers and their wives: Harold C. Kasten (Marie) of Jackson, MO, Paul R. Kasten (Eileen) of Oak Ridge and Albert W. Kasten (Mirian) of Crestwood, Missouri her stepson and his wife: Stephen Wallace (Mary) of Oak Ridge her niece Susan Kasten Goebbert of Hindsdale, Il. amd her nephew Jim Brege of Detroit, MI. Visitation with the family willbe from 1-2pm on February 03, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge, TNwith a funeral service at 2pm. Interment will follow at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery outside Andersonville, TN
