Mildred Bailey

Mildred E. Bailey passed away peacefully on March 20, 2021 at her home. Mildred was a long time resident of Oak Ridge, and a faithful member of the New Life Church of the Nazarene. She was born in Brent, Alabama on December 14, 1934 to Harvey and Pearl Elam. She was the baby of 14 children. She was an avid fan of Alabama football, Roll Tide!!
She and her husband, David E Bailey, were married in Brent on March 1, 1952 and moved to Oak Ridge shortly after where Ed began working at the Y-12 Plant.
She finished her high school studies at Oak Ridge High School and graduated in 1955. Over the years she worked for Abbott Laboratories, ORAU, K-25, and Y-12.
Mildred was pre-deceased by her husband Ed, her parents, and all of her siblings. She leaves behind her daughters Karen and husband Gary Lenderman and Diane and husband Steve Price, as well as her grandchildren Alesha and husband Mark Moreno; Stephanie and husband Rob McCormick; and Bo and wife Sophia Price; step granddaughter Ashley and husband Zach Lindsey; and step grandson Seth and wife Alyssa Lenderman. Mildred also had 5 great grandchildren and was known to them as Grand-Nana. They are Connor and Caroline Moreno and Brennan, McKenzie, and Kayleigh McCormick. The sixth great grand will arrive in July of this year.
She is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews, whom she tried to keep in touch with as much as she could.
Mildred had five amazing nurses who cared for her and loved her and to whom we are eternally grateful. Tiffany White, Kierstan Davis, Jason Robinson, Cammie McCallister, and Leah McCallister, Thank You all.
Visitation is set for 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, March 22 at New Life Church of the Nazarene, 200 LaFayette Drive in Oak Ridge, with the funeral following at 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be at Oak Ridge Memorial at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 23.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Church of the Nazarene.
