She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 15, 1926. She attended the University of Maryland, and worked for many years at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital. She married the love of her life, Herbert Rudo, on May 9, 1955. They lived in Baltimore, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee during their wonderful marriage. They loved taking long rides in the country and exploring new areas, often with their beloved dogs in tow. They especially loved taking their grandchildren to feed the ducks at the Oak Ridge Marina.
Marilyn was a long time member and intermittent Sunday school teacher of the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge. She was an avid reader and an avid volunteer. She volunteered at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic for many, many years. She was blessed with a strong clear voice which she used to read books for those not able to read for themselves. She served in various offices of the Oak Ridge Chapter of Hadassah and the Sisterhood of the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge. She also served as the head of the Calling Committee of the Sisterhood of the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge. Many thanks to Rabbi Victor Rashkovsky for the many books he downloaded to her Kindle during her time at NHC Oak Ridge.
Meeting her at Rainbow Bridge will be Lady little dog, Tom the green ranger, and Lucy the beagle, accompanied, of course, by their daddy, Herb Rudo and his first dog Pudgie.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Martin Funeral Home, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Services were on Monday, April 21, 2014 at noon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge, Hadassah, RFB&D, the Southern Poverty Law Center, or the charity of your choice.
