Margaret Pauline Gottshall age 96 of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away November 04, 2016 at National Health Care in Oak Ridge. Margaret was born July 20, 1920 in Somerset, Kentucky to Charles and Ida Mae Gottshall. She obtained her Master's degree in Education from Western Kentucky University and was employed with the Oak Ridge Public School Systems as a Physical Education Teacher for 43 years from 1943 until 1986 and was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge where she was a Sunday School Teacher as well as Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Smokey Mountain Hiking Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Oak Ridge Teachers Association and Tennessee Education Association. Margaret volunteered at many organizations including The Nearly New Shop, (TMCA) Museum of Science and Energy. Meals on Wheels, Oak Ridge Library, Oak Ridge Women's Club High School Cheerleader Sponsor, Bridge Club, First United Methodist Church Library and the Methodist Medical Center Gift Shop.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Charles A. and Ida Mae Gottshall, brothers William and Charles Gottshall, sisters Lois Ried and Katheryn Witten, nephew Eugene Anderson and niece Rebecca Hail. She is survived by her nieces: Barbara Cannady, Sharlene Midkif, Paula Barricklow and Gay Kernan nephews: Russell Witten, Steve Gottshall, William Gottshall and Robert Gottshall
Visitation with the family will be 10.00 AM Tuesday November 08, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with the Rev. Jenny Caughman officiating. Interment will be 3:00 PM Tuesday November 08, 2016 at Pisgah Church Cemetery in Somerset Kentucky. The family would loke to thank Randi Burman for the loving care she provided for our aunt Margaret.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter S.P.C. A. or the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge.
