Lavada Worthington, age 73, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
She was born on December 29, 1951, in Briceville, Tennessee, to Sam and Edna Housely Worthington. Her father was a coal miner in Anderson County, and her mother worked as a cook and homemaker. In 1957, the family moved to Ohio in search of work after the coal mines shut down. They returned to Tennessee in 1971 and made their home in Oak Ridge.
In 1984, Lavada began her career as a Branch Office Administrator at the original Edward Jones office in Oak Ridge. She became a Limited Partner with the firm and dedicated 31 years of service before retiring.
Lavada was preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley and Roger Worthington, and her sisters, Audrey Jean Hedlund and Katherine “Sis” Worthington. She is survived by her brothers, Tom and Carl Worthington.
Lavada and “Sis” shared a deep fandom for Elvis Presley. She also had special friends Georgia Shepherd, Lynn Crews-Brooks, and Jim Charles III.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Ann Carter and the staff at Diversicare for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 28th, at 4:00pm at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge.
