It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Joshua Michael Jensen, 46. He passed away on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, in Oak Ridge, TN. Those who knew Josh know what an exceptional and loving person he was, always with a smile for those around him and hugs that left you feeling warm and comforted.
Born on July 26th, 1980, in Upland, CA, to Alice and Gary Jensen. He completed their family of four, joining his older sister, Nicole. He was raised in Lucerne, CA, attending Upper Lake High School, class of 1998. His formative years were full of laughter and fun.
As a young adult, Josh attended San Diego State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and met his wife, Gina. Those years were filled with fond memories of time on the water as a sailing instructor, longboarding the streets of San Diego, and an unquenchable thirst for life. Josh and Gina married in Upper Lake, CA, on June 16th, 2007. Their marriage laid the foundation for their growing family, one built on strong values of acceptance, kindness, love, and adventure.
This deep sense of adventure was one that continued to drive Josh throughout his life. Josh was often found outdoors participating in his many hobbies. There are many fond memories with loved ones attached to hikes, camping, and sharing music. As well as off-roading with his Jeep club, mountain biking, snowboarding, playing soccer, and, most recently, hiking to waterfalls with his family.
Josh was a beloved father, husband, brother, and son. While his many titles cannot truly express the strength of his love, they show the pieces of himself that were held close to his heart. Josh loved fully and with every fiber of his being. He touched many lives with his humor, wisdom, and perseverance. Those lucky enough to feel his light shine on them will not soon forget its warmth.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eleanor and Joe Carl, and Jean and Jack Jensen; as well as his beloved dogs, Kona and Jimmy.
He is survived by his wife, Gina; their four children, Christopher, Gabriella, Leo, and Luke; his mother, Alice; his father, Gary; his sister, Nicole; his brother-in-law, Bill; his brother-in-law, Ed; and his dog, Daisy. Along with a long list of nieces, nephews, and beloved family and friends.
Services will be held at Northstar Church, 9929 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932, on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, at 11 AM.
We ask, in this time of grief, that you take a moment to step out into the sun and think fondly of Josh as you feel the warmth surround you. Know that he would be smiling right there next to you.
