JAMES E. STARBUCK
James (Jim) Edward Starbuck, 91, died on September 23, 2025, at the Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, Tennessee, after a short illness.
He was born on January 19, 1934, in rural Madison County, Ohio, the 5th child of Leo L. and Ruth E. (Fisher) Starbuck. He graduated from London High School in 1952. He served four years in the U. S. Navy, including more than three years aboard the heavy cruiser USS Albany. He was employed by The Huntington National Bank in Columbus, Ohio for 37 years. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Knoxville, TN.
He is survived by his son, James Michael and his wife, Lisa; son-in-law, Kevin McMurray; grandchildren: Kyle (Naomi) McMurray; Sarah (Ben) Roby; Riley McMurray; and Sean (Christine) McMurray, great-grandchildren: Ezra McMurray; Hazel Irene McMurray; Eliza Deanne McMurray; Zoe Marie McMurray; and many nieces and nephews in Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly A. (Holt) Starbuck (for almost 70 years); his parents, Leo L. and Ruth E. Starbuck; daughter, Lesa D. (Kevin) McMurray; sisters, Janice; Carolyn (Robert) Houston; Lois (Jerry) Beauman; and Carmen Sue Byers; and brother, Jerry.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 and funeral at 7:00 in the Chapel of the Mott-McKamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge. Interment will take place on Saturday, September 27, at 10:00 at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Sacred Ground Hospice House and SunCrest Hospice for the dignity, love, and compassion they showed to Jim and his family during this difficult time.
