Edward D McElroy age 67 is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Ed passed away at his home Friday December 21, 2018. He was born August 16, 1951 in New Haven, Connecticut to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Eugene McElroy. Ed put up a hard fight and was always quite the trooper. He was an incredible husband for over 32 years to Stacy McElroy, and a wonderful and caring father to Hannah and Elliot McElroy. Ed took a large amount of pride in and was so proud of his children and the adults that they were becoming, as well as being a loving father to his furbaby "Buttons" who brought him amazing comfort and joy during his illness. Ed was employed for over 10 years at East Tennessee Childrens Hospital where he worked in Enviormental Services, and was a long time member of High Places Community
Church in Oak Ridge. He had many hobbies but especially loved John Wayne movies and other western shows, and was an avid fan of 50's rock and roll and country music. Ed was preceded in death by his mother and father, son; Joshua Michael McElroy and brother; James and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 32 years; Stacy McElroy, daughter; Hannah Marie McElroy, son; Elliott David McElroy, step-mother; Beverly McElroy, half-sisters; Carrie and Tammy, step-sister; Roxanne, step-brother; Christopher, Cousins; Robert (Bob) and Roswitha (Rose) Tyler. Visitation with the family will be from 4-6 pm Saturday January 05, 2019 at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with a Memorial Celebration of Ed's Life at 6pm. with the Rev. Martin Fischer officiating.
