Edna Rainwater

Edna Mae Rainwater of Oak Ridge, age 91 departed this life on January 25, 2016 at Canterfield of Oak Ridge surrounded by her family. Formally a resident of Irondale, Alabama, she came to Oak Ridge in 1952 with her husband Acie L. Rainwater who worked at the y-12 plant for 29 years and two children, June Rainwater (Thacker) and Glenn Rainwater. Their third child, Dr. Dennis Rainwater was born in Oak Ridge in 1959.
Edna was an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge since 1955. She was a devoted mother and wife. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Acie L.
Rainwater, her mother Pearl Phillips; her father Ed Phillips; brother Milton Phillips; sisters, Inez Phillips Vera Burdette, Ruth Dickinson and Mary Craft and grandson Steven Yazdik. Edna is survived by her children June Thacker (Steve), Glenn Rainwater (Dinah), Dr. Dennis Rainwater (Connie); Sister Jo Cogswell; grandchildren include, Pamela Brock (Walter), Justin Rainwater, Dustin Rainwater, Ashley Wesley (James) and Devin Rainwater. Also survived by Great Grandchildren: Kennedy and Karson Brock, Iziah, Skylar and Alijah Ladner.
Funeral services will be Thursday January 28, 2016 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Martin oak Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Larry Blakeburn officiating, The Rainwater family will receive friends Thursday January 28, 2016 starting at 5:00 pm until time of service. Interment will be 11:00 am Friday January 29, 2016 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Oak Ridge. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Canterfield of Oak Ridge and especially the staff of Memory Care for the excellent care and love provided for Edna.
