Dr. Marie Eileen Walsh

Dr. Walsh, Marie Eileen, 72, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away at her home, April 25, 2024.
 
 Cremation rites are under the direction of Mott-McKamey Funeral Home and Cremations, in Oak Ridge.
 
Marie was born January 29, 1952, to Edward and Margaret Walsh. She is survived by a sister, Ruth Brunts of Stanford, KY, many nieces and nephews, and friends.
 
Ms. Walsh was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Joseph E., and Francis E. Walsh.
 
Marie graduated Jersey Community High School, Jerseyville, Illinois, June 2, 1970. She received a Bachelor Of Arts degree from Illinois College, Jacksonville, Illinois; May 26, 1974; A certification of internship in Medical Technology from Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, August 4, 1978; A Masters of Science degree from The University of Minnesota, April 13, 1986; and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota, July 30, 1993.
 
Dr. Walsh was awarded the YWCA Tribute to Women in 2001, and the Distinguished Service Citation in Science and Technology from Illinois College on June 9, 2006.
 
Dr. Walsh worked many years as a Biofuels Economist before retiring, but continued with private consultations. She enjoyed being a devoted cat mom.
