Doris Obituary

Doris Ann Hutchins Webber, 78, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday May 24, 2012 at National Health Care Center of Oak Ridge.
She was born in Lake City, TN March 17, 1936 to the late Rev. H.L. and Bess Piatt Hutchins. She grew up in Lake City where her father was pastor of Clear Branch Baptist Church. She graduated from Lake City High School going on to Berea College in Berea, Kentucky then to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville receiving her BS, MS, and Doctorate Degrees. She was the Administrator/Director for the preschool head start program for the Oak Ridge City Schools. She has more than 40 years in the field of education. She was very successful in classroom teaching, adult education, evaluation of administrators and working with low performing schools and was a member of the Superintendents Cabinet which consists of the top seven administrators in Oak Ridge from 1976 - 2001. Doris loved antiquing, sewing, and caring for children especially her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charles Boyd Webber, two sons David and Mark Webber, and sister Evelyn Cox. Survivors include daughter Lisa Webber of Oak Ridge, brother and sister-in-law Jack Hutchins and his wife Lucille of Clinton, Carroll Hutchins and his wife Joan of Clinton, sister Kathy Moore Tuxbury and her husband Dan of Oak Ridge, grandchildren Courtney and Andrew Webber of Charlotte, NC, "BO" Tucker and David Delacruz of Oak Ridge, several nieces and nephews and many many close friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday May 26, 2012 2:00pm in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with Doris' nephew Barry Hutchins officiating. Interment will follow at the Leach Cemetery in Lake City, Tennessee. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Emory valley Center 715 Emory Valley Road Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
