Arthur Adams

Arthur Adams 89 of Oak Ridge passed away August 23, 2016 at Greenfield Senior Living in Oak Ridge. Mr. Adams was born September 16, 1926 in Wendover, Kentucky to Marion E. Adams and Alabam Coots Adams.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Coker Adams, father Marion E. Adams, mother Alabam Coots Adams, brothers Cova Adams, Coy Adams, Caffee Adams, Willard Adams and Lonnie Adams and an infant brother. Sisters Zilpha Adams Morgan, Lelia Adams Napier, Grace Adams Fields and Verda Adams Gross. Brother-in-law Robert Coke, sister in law Myrna Coker McGlamery. Survivors include brothers Oria Adams of Hyden, Kentucky, Don Adams and wife Stephanie of Hyden, Kentucky, Janice Adams Griffith of Wooten, Kentucky, Jeanette Adams of Fortuna, California, Shirley Adams Callahan of Wooten, Kentucky, Daisy Adams North of Stinnett, Kentucky, Nancy Adams Howard and husband Benny from Elismore, Kentucky. Host of nieces and nephews.
After serving in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 he was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He attended Lindsay Wilson College and then Eastern Kentucky University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He received his Masters Degree in Education at Miami University in Oxford Ohio. He taught school in Kentucky and Georgia before settling in Hamilton, Ohio where he taught at Lincoln Elementary.
Arthur has been a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge since 1997. He spent many hours volunteering at the caring center. His hobbies and interest included fishing and watching Kentucky Wildcat Basketball.
Funeral service will be 2:00 Friday August 26, 2016 in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 12 noon until time of service. Interment will follow the service at Anderson Memorial Gardens
in Clinton, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Caring Center at Central Baptist
Church Oak Ridge, Tennessee
