Alvin Maywood Mercer Jr. age 81 is in the care of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Alvin passed away August 11,2017 at his home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was born October 16, 1935 in Richmond, Indiana to Alvin Maywood Mercer Sr. and Bessie Irene Ward Mercer.
Mr. Mercer had an associates degree in accounting and was general manager of automotive and RV dealerships also he enjoyed watching football especially the Vols and Broncos.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; Alvin Maywood Mercer Sr. and Bessie Irene Ward Mercer, brother; Stanley Mercer and half brother; Fred Ward
He is survived by his daughters; Melody Jo Oesch and husband Timothy of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Andera Grace Podgorski of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Sons; Steven Carl Mercer and wife Candace of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Barry Scott Mercer of Greenville, South Carolina. 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm Friday August 18, 2017 at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday August 19, 2017 in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home followed by interment at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
